DENIED
You are a loan officer at First National Bank.
Follow the policy. The numbers don't lie.
Every day, loan applications land on your desk. Applicants below 600 points are high risk. That's the rule.
But the numbers don't tell you about the three kids. The surgery. The hearing aid. The car that means a job.
You have five days. Every decision goes on your record.

Really liked the game! I wish there was a feature to skip the text typing slowly because when I'm doing new playthroughs I know what it says already. Is it normal that in day 4 the instruction says to disapprove every file, but when you refuse for the first one you still get a warning? Anyway, I managed to get to the end of day 5 while approving almost all files and leaking the files from day 4, but I got fired in the end anyway :P Couldn't see what happened when you obey all the instructions cuz that goes against my convictions ahahah!
I'm always amazed at this credit score thing because it doesn't exist in France. In our country it is very hard to contract a loan except if you are rich already.
Thank you so much for the wonderful feedback!
Your comment really made my day.
Actually, pressing the SpaceBar allows you to skip text typing!
To answer your question about Day 4 and ending - yes, you get fired in the end even if you obey all instructions perfectly! I wanted to satirize the cold reality of the capitalist market, where you can be discarded at any moment no matter how hard you work or how obedient you are.
I'm from South Korea, and the core theme of this game reflects a massive social issue here right now. In Korea, commercial banks receive significant government support, yet the system is rigged: poor people face high rates for tiny roans, while the rich easily secure massive amounts of money at very low rates. I wanted to satirize this absurdity.
Since I found out about this jam quite late, I didn't have enough time to polish the gameplay as much as I wanted.
Thank you again for playing my game and sharing your thoughts!
That's so cool that people from everywhere in the world are participating in this jam and sharing the same thoughts about capitalism!
I guess the bank system is the same everywhere at its core, credit score or not. In France it is very hard to contract a loan if you're not rich enough, but if you do, the interest rate is huge too, much greater than for the rich. And here too banks receive massive government support, but the opposite isn't true when there is an economical crisis.
Aaah I didn't try spacebar, good to know thanks! It's cool that you implemented the feature. So if I understand right, in your game if you obey you get fired anyway (I like that take and agree with it. Even if we are being encouraged to do so, being a corporate scum isn't always rewarding - and even if it was, at what cost. We took the same take in our game). So the only good thing you can do is leak the files before being fired, right? Or there is another possibility I missed?
One can always polish their game endlessly, but I think your game is pretty cool as it is.
In "paper please" kind of game, most of the tame you have to check a lot of data and compare to instructions, I like that here it is only the score and you are supposed not to take care of the rest. That's a very realistic take on how our society work too, with grades, etc. I used to work in Research and nowadays even researchers have a score, called the h-index. Most of the time, universities and such recruit them or not depending of this score, and not the quality of their work or their ethics. Much easier to base everything on a number instead of doing a little bit of investigation work, right?
Anyway very good game that fits the jam very well!
